Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling pin
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon or spatula for mixing

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (60g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can (8 count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, chopped lettuce, sour cream, salsa

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Filling:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
    • Drain any excess fat, then add the taco seasoning and water. Stir to combine, and let it simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
    • Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Unroll the crescent roll dough on a lightly floured surface. Separate the dough into 4 rectangles, pressing the perforations to seal.
    • Spoon a portion of the beef mixture onto one half of each rectangle, then top with a mixture of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  3. Assemble the Pockets:
    • Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket, pressing the edges with a fork to seal.
    • Transfer the pockets to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Brush the tops of the pockets with melted butter.
  4. Bake and Serve:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the pockets are golden brown.
    • Serve warm, with optional toppings like diced tomatoes, chopped lettuce, sour cream, or salsa.
