Air fryer potatoes

Air fryer potatoes are a fantastic, healthier alternative to traditional deep-fried potatoes. Using an air fryer allows you to enjoy the same crispy texture and delicious flavor with significantly less oil.

Ingredients

  • Ingredients:
  • 2 large potatoes about 500g, peeled
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil 30 ml
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder 5g
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt 2.5g
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: other seasonings like paprika black pepper, or dried herbs

Instructions

  • Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into uniform fries or wedges.
  • Soak the Potatoes: Place the potato pieces in a large bowl and fill it with cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain well and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
  • Season the Potatoes: In a large bowl, toss the dried potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, and seasoned salt. Make sure all pieces are evenly coated.
  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for about 5 minutes.
  • Air Fry the Potatoes:
  • Place the potato pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Cook at 190°C (375°F) for 10 minutes. Shake the basket or flip the fries halfway through the cooking time.
  • Continue cooking for another 6-10 minutes until the fries are golden and crispy.
  • Serve: Season with additional salt if desired and serve hot.
  • Tips:
  • For Extra Crispiness: After soaking, dry the potatoes thoroughly. Moisture can prevent them from crisping up properly.
  • Cooking Time: Depending on the thickness of your fries and the model of your air fryer, cooking times might vary. Keep an eye on them during the last few minutes.
  • Batch Cooking: If you have a smaller air fryer, you may need to cook the potatoes in batches to avoid overcrowding, which can lead to uneven cooking.
