Amish Broccoli Salad

Amish Broccoli Salad is a delightful mix of crisp broccoli, smoky sunflower seeds, tangy dried cranberries, and a creamy, sweet dressing.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Whisk or spoon for mixing

Method
 

  1. Wash and dry the broccoli thoroughly. Chop it into small, bite-sized florets and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the Mix-Ins
  3. To the broccoli, add shredded cheddar cheese, red onion, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds.
  4. Make the Dressing
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, white vinegar, and sugar until smooth and creamy.
  6. Combine and Toss
  7. Pour the dressing over the broccoli mixture. Toss until everything is evenly coated.
  8. Chill Before Serving
  9. Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
