Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
Mix the Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, and vegetable oil. Mix until well combined.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Stir in the Greek yogurt (or sour cream) and vanilla extract until smooth.
Combine the Mixtures:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
Fold in the diced apples and optional nuts or raisins.
Transfer and Top:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
Bake the Bread:
Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
Cool and Serve:
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and enjoy as is, or with a spread of butter or cream cheese.
Notes
Use firm, crisp apples like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji for the best texture and flavor.
