Banana Chocolate Chip Streusel Muffins are a delightful treat that combines the sweet, comforting flavors of ripe bananas and chocolate with a crunchy, buttery streusel topping.

Ingredients
  

  • For the Muffins:
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large ripe bananas mashed
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • For the Streusel Topping:
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter cold
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the Oven and Prepare Muffin Tin:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease your muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
  • Make the Muffin Batter:
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, mix the mashed bananas, sugar, egg, and melted butter.
  • Fold the banana mixture into the flour mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Prepare the Streusel Topping:
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
  • Cut in the cold butter with a fork or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the nuts if using.
  • Assemble the Muffins:
  • Spoon the muffin batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  • Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the batter in each cup.
  • Bake the Muffins:
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
  • Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve the muffins warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
