In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Cook the Pancakes:
Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.
Pour about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the hot griddle. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side.

Serve the pancakes hot with maple syrup, extra chocolate chips, or a dollop of whipped cream.
