Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Spatula or wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 stick ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 29 oz can sliced peaches in syrup, undrained
  • 1 tsp cinnamon optional, for sprinkling

Instructions

  • Prepare the Batter:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir in the milk until the batter is smooth.
  • Assemble the Cobbler:
  • Pour the melted butter into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Pour the batter over the butter. Do not stir.
  • Evenly distribute the peaches and syrup over the batter. Again, do not stir. The batter will rise around the peaches as it bakes.
  • Bake:
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the batter is fully cooked.
  • Optional: Sprinkle cinnamon over the cobbler during the last 5 minutes of baking for added flavor.
  • Serve:
  • Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Fresh Peaches: If you prefer fresh peaches, use about 4–5 peeled and sliced peaches. Add ½ cup of sugar and ¼ cup of water to mimic the syrup.
