Jalapeno Popper

Jalapeno Popper Wontons are a delicious twist on the classic jalapeno popper.

Equipment

  • Deep fryer or large skillet
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spoon or piping bag
  • Paper towels (for draining)

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped jalapenos fresh or pickled
  • 1/4 cup chopped cooked bacon optional
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wonton wrappers about 20-30
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped jalapenos, chopped bacon (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Assemble the Wontons:
  • Place a small spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water and fold in half to form a triangle, sealing the edges. You can also fold the edges to make a more pouch-like shape.
  • Heat the Oil:
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the Wontons:
  • Fry the wontons in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan, until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried wontons to paper towels to drain.

Notes

Serve the jalapeno popper wontons hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or salsa.
