Method
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise:
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
- Scatter the diced peaches over the cinnamon sugar.
- Roll and Cut the Dough:
- Roll up the dough tightly from one end to the other to form a log.
- Cut the log into 12-15 equal slices and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cover the baking dish with a clean cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Glaze the Rolls:
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a dash of nutmeg or ginger to the filling.
If using canned peaches, make sure they are well-drained to avoid excess moisture in the rolls.
