Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is a savory and hearty dish that brings the flavors of the classic Philly cheesesteak into a comforting meatloaf.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Sauté the Vegetables:
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, oregano, and thyme.
  • Add the sautéed vegetables to the meat mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Shape the Meatloaf:
  • Press half of the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Place 4 slices of provolone cheese over the meat mixture.
  • Press the remaining meat mixture over the cheese, sealing the edges.
  • Prepare the Topping:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  • Spread the topping evenly over the meatloaf.
  • Bake:
  • Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the topping is caramelized.
  • Serve:
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve with your favorite side dishes.
