Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes combine the savory, cheesy flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak with the ease and heartiness of a sloppy joe. Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water for slurry
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 –6 hamburger buns toasted

Instructions
 

  • Cook the Beef and Vegetables:
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add the bell pepper, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 4–5 minutes.
  • Make the Sauce:
  • Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add the cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the mixture thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the Cheese:
  • Lower the heat to medium-low. Lay the provolone cheese slices over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt, about 1–2 minutes. Stir to combine the melted cheese into the beef mixture.
  • Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
  • Toast the buns on a baking sheet in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes or until golden.
  • Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto the bottom halves of the buns. Top with the other halves and serve immediately.

Notes

Extra Toppings: Add sautéed mushrooms or banana peppers for extra flavor.
Cheese Options: Swap provolone for American, mozzarella, or cheddar cheese.
