Ingredients
  

  • 5 cups cubed day-old bread French bread works well
  • 1 can 20 oz crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread and crushed pineapple. Mix well.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and melted butter until well combined.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread and pineapple mixture. Gently stir to combine, ensuring all the bread is soaked.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  • Bake:
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
