Taco Pinwheels

Taco Pinwheels are a delightful twist on traditional tacos, transforming taco flavors into bite-sized spirals that make perfect appetizers or snacks.

Ingredients

  • 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup black olives chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions chopped
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper finely diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped (optional)
  • 4 large flour tortillas

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Plastic wrap
  • Sharp knife
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Prepare the Filling:
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning mix until smooth and well-blended.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, black olives, green onions, red bell pepper, and cilantro (if using) until the mixture is evenly distributed.
  4. Assemble the Pinwheels:
  5. Lay out the flour tortillas on a flat surface.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over each tortilla, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent spillage when rolling.
  7. Roll up the tortillas tightly to ensure the filling stays in place.

Notes

Wrap the rolled tortillas in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up. This makes slicing easier and helps the pinwheels keep their shape.
