Method
- Make the Special Sauce:
- In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, French dressing, sweet pickle relish, minced onion, white vinegar, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Refrigerate the sauce for at least an hour to let the flavors meld.
- Prepare the Buns:
- Lightly toast all the bun halves, including two additional bottom buns which will serve as the middle layer of the Big Mac.
- Form and Cook the Patties:
- Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and form into thin patties slightly larger than your buns.
- Season each patty with salt and pepper.
- Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes per side or until fully cooked.
- Place a slice of cheese on four of the patties during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
- Assemble the Big Mac:
- Spread a generous amount of the special sauce on both sides of the three bun sections (bottom, middle, and top).
- On the bottom bun, place a small amount of chopped onions, shredded lettuce, and one cheese-topped patty.
- Add the middle bun layer, then repeat with more sauce, onions, lettuce, another patty, and several slices of pickle.
- Cap with the top bun.
- Serve:
- Your homemade Big Mac is ready to serve. Enjoy it fresh and hot for the best experience.
Notes
For an authentic touch, slice your pickles thinly and spread your onions generously.
If you want to keep your burgers juicy, avoid pressing down on the patties while they cook.
