White Pizza: Indulge in a Cheesy Slice of Heaven

White pizza has carved a niche for itself in the realm of pizza enthusiasts, providing a delightful alternative to traditional red sauce pizzas.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough homemade or store-bought
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/2 cup fontina cheese shredded (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes optional, for garnish
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Pizza stone or baking sheet
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven:
  2. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat. If not, you can use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Prepare the Dough:
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel dusted with flour or a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Prepare the Garlic Oil:
  6. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil with minced garlic.
  7. Assemble the Pizza:
  8. Brush the garlic oil evenly over the surface of the dough.
  9. Spread the ricotta cheese as the base layer.
  10. Evenly distribute the mozzarella, Parmesan, and fontina cheeses over the ricotta.
  11. Sprinkle dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper over the cheeses.
  12. Bake the Pizza:
  13. Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  14. Garnish and Serve:
  15. Remove the pizza from the oven. If desired, sprinkle red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
  16. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
  17. Let the pizza cool for a few minutes, then cut into slices and serve.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, incorporate a drizzle of truffle oil or a sprinkle of fresh arugula on the pizza after baking.
