White Pizza: Indulge in a Cheesy Slice of Heaven

White pizza has carved a niche for itself in the realm of pizza enthusiasts, providing a delightful alternative to traditional red sauce pizzas.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Pizza stone or baking sheet
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough homemade or store-bought
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/2 cup fontina cheese shredded (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes optional, for garnish
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat. If not, you can use a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Dough:
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel dusted with flour or a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Prepare the Garlic Oil:
  • In a small bowl, mix the olive oil with minced garlic.
  • Assemble the Pizza:
  • Brush the garlic oil evenly over the surface of the dough.
  • Spread the ricotta cheese as the base layer.
  • Evenly distribute the mozzarella, Parmesan, and fontina cheeses over the ricotta.
  • Sprinkle dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper over the cheeses.
  • Bake the Pizza:
  • Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or pizza stone). Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  • Garnish and Serve:
  • Remove the pizza from the oven. If desired, sprinkle red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
  • Let the pizza cool for a few minutes, then cut into slices and serve.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, incorporate a drizzle of truffle oil or a sprinkle of fresh arugula on the pizza after baking.
