Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Directions

  1. Prepare the Baking Dish:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Arrange the Croissants:
    • Place the croissant pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the Custard:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, orange juice, orange zest, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, heavy cream, milk, and salt until well combined.
  4. Combine Croissants and Custard:
    • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant pieces, pressing down lightly to ensure all the pieces are soaked.
  5. Bake:
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
    • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  6. Prepare the Orange Glaze:
    • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
  7. Serve:
    • Drizzle the orange glaze over the warm croissant bake before serving.
