They’re not heavy or overly sweet either. I think they’re perfect for any occasion, and if you’re not a fan of cinnamon, feel free to omit it. It will still be undeniably delicious! Ingredients

  • For the Cookie Bars:
    • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Cinnamon-Sugar Topping:
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Cookie Dough:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
    • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  3. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  4. Assemble and Bake:
    • Spread the cookie dough evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top of the cookie dough.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the cookie bars to cool in the pan before slicing into bars.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature.
