The Best Strawberry Cake Ever

- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pink or red food coloring (optional)

- 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, pureed
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix just until combined.
- Stir in the strawberry puree. Add food coloring if desired for a pinker hue.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
