  • Spatula
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick bread e.g., brioche or challah
  • 2 apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apple Mixture:
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sliced apples with brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until the apples are softened and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
  • Make the Egg Mixture:
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and the remaining teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • Cook the French Toast:
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.

  • Assemble and Serve:
  • Serve the French toast hot with a scoop of the caramelized apples on top.
  • Drizzle with maple syrup as desired.

Notes

For added crunch, sprinkle some chopped nuts over the top before serving.
Consider serving with whipped cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for extra indulgence.
